Pieper Veterinary Hospital traces its origins to 1933, when Dr. Pieper (“The Doc”) established his practice in Connecticut, catering to both large and small animals. The hospital’s identity was built on his relentless dedication and a philosophy of comprehensive, 24-hour service; Dr. Pieper was known for his strong work ethic and for attending to all emergencies, even receiving calls at his bedside.
This legacy of dedication continued when Dr. Robert W. Olson, who began as a kennel assistant, purchased the practice in 1982. The organization expanded, eventually growing into a “hub and spokes” network of hospitals. Today, the practice includes the Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center, a state-of-the-art facility launched in 2010. This center honors its founder’s commitment by providing 24/7 emergency services alongside advanced specialty care.
