Veterinarian - Primary Care

Dr. Hazel Sebens is an Associate Veterinarian at Pieper Veterinary with over 15 years of clinical experience providing compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats. She is skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions and is especially known for her thoughtful, clear communication with pet owners—ensuring they feel informed, supported, and confident in their pet’s care plan. Dr. Sebens is dedicated to building lasting relationships with families while delivering personalized veterinary care tailored to each patient’s needs.

Dr. Sebens earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2010. She enjoys practicing a broad spectrum of medicine and has a special interest in helping new puppies and kittens get off to a healthy start, as well as supporting senior pets in maintaining comfort and quality of life throughout their golden years.

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Sebens relocated to be closer to family. She lives with her husband, son, and their beloved Labrador retriever. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys gardening, cross stitching, reading, and scrapbooking.

Dr. Seth Dunipace brings 15 years of veterinary experience, including eight years in small animal care. Originally trained in production animal medicine with a focus on pigs, he now practices general veterinary medicine with an emphasis on surgery, working closely with clients to determine the most reasonable and effective treatment plans for their pets.

A 2011 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Dunipace completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Denmark and studied animal welfare at Cambridge, gaining a global perspective on veterinary care.

He is passionate about surgical procedures and providing compassionate, client-focused care. Outside the clinic, Dr. Dunipace enjoys cycling, wrestling, cooking, and spending time with his pet rabbit.

Dr. Yu brings a truly global perspective to her work at Pieper Veterinary, shaped by a diverse background in both wildlife and companion animal medicine. Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Universidad de Antioquia before spending five years as the solo veterinarian at Zoológico Santa Fe, where she cared for a wide range of wildlife species. She then continued her academic journey as a Fulbright Scholar at Virginia Tech, earning a Master of Science degree with a focus on mule deer research. Dr. Yu further advanced her training through the Foreign Veterinarian Graduate Program at Purdue University and joined Mountain Lore Animal Hospital in 2007.

With a passion for delivering thoughtful, compassionate care, Dr. Yu has a special interest in ophthalmology and endocrinology. She is dedicated to staying at the forefront of veterinary medicine through ongoing continuing education and enjoys collaborating with clients to ensure the best possible outcomes for their pets.

Dr. Molter earned her undergraduate degree from Saint Lawrence University and her DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She brings special skills and interests in ultrasonography and was the 2018 recipient of the American College of Veterinary Radiology Senior Student Award. Since she grew up in Glastonbury, she was excited to return to the local area with her husband and two young daughters. They have a cat named Louie and a rabbit named Bee. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking, learning about local plants and wildlife and swimming. She also loves to cook and enjoys all of the fresh local products that are available in the area!

A Southern California native, Dr. DeJesus received her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences located in Los Angeles in May 2021. Having family in Stonington, she visited many summers while growing up and always found herself wanting to come back to New England.

Dr. DeJesus finally made the move to Connecticut during her last year of veterinary school. She has a passion for animal rescue, preventative care and community outreach. Dr. DeJesus looks forward to learning new and evolving skills from her team at the Lebanon Veterinary Hospital, as well as establishing lifelong relationships with clients and their beloved furry family members. Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. DeJesus enjoys DIYing her first home, searching out the best locally owned restaurants and planning her next family adventure.

Dr. Zickmann (Dr. Z) graduated from the University of Berlin Veterinary School in 1986. After working in Heidelberg for a year he came back home to New England. He and his wife bought the veterinary practice in Lebanon from retiring Dr. Baldwin in 2004. Dr. Z has a special interest in surgery and internal medicine. He is a friend to many Greyhounds and Frenchies, having had several of his own. Dr. Z actively supports the local dog and cat rescue groups, as well as helping injured local wildlife. In his free time he enjoys family activities with his wife Susan and their two children Gabby and Zack. He likes gardening, hiking, dirt-biking and skiing as well as keeping up with their 200 year old historic home and barn. Dr. Z is USDA accredited for international health certificates.
